Sean Rees
Sean Rees is Director of Marching Percussion for the FIU Panther Marching Band and Indoor Drumline. In addition, he works extensively as a music composer, arranger, and drill designer for high school and collegiate athletic band programs nationwide. Sean is a graduate of The University of Arizona in Percussion Performance, with additional studies in Music Education.
As a performer, Sean is an accomplished marching, orchestral, and electronic percussionist. His work includes four national tours with Drum Corps International world class ensembles, as well as the exploration of new works for concert and electronic percussion. A two-time DCI scholarship award winner, Sean performed on snare drum with Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps and The Academy DBC. He held leadership positions in both DCI ensembles, marched with his Pac-12 collegiate drumline as battery captain, and appeared at the 2019 Ultra Music Festival and in a music video for Universal Music Group.
Sean is a rising star in marching drill design. His choreography has been commissioned by several competitive marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles across the country. He also clinics and teaches at many of the schools for which he writes, including The University of Miami where he serves as Assistant Percussion Instructor with the "Frost Band of the Hour." Sean has received several awards and distinctions for his drill design, including a special recognition at the CBDNA national conference in 2014.
